The INTERPLAN consortium gathered on 16-17 October 2019 in IEn premises in Gdansk (PL), to review the ongoing activities and the current project status, and plan the upcoming steps in the development of the operation planning tool.

Project partners discussed about the general project status and more specifically the status of each work package, with presentations regarding technical as well as dissemination aspects of the project.

Upcoming deliverables were discussed as well, specifically “Operation planning and semi-dynamic simulation of grid equivalents”, which is an important deliverable that will facilitate the further work on control functions developments.

On 16 October, project partners had the opportunity to take part in a tour of the LINTE^2 Laboratory. The meeting was organized by the Polish partner Institute of Power Engineering (IEn) Gdańsk Branch, which regularly cooperates with the LINTE^2 Laboratory within the framework of a bilateral agreement. During the visit, the partners familiarised themselves with the research infrastructure of the Laboratory and participated in a demonstration, during which the possibilities of using the interventional operation of the battery energy storage system (BESS) in the power grid were examined.

The LINTE^2 Laboratory is a complex experimental installation dedicated to R&D activities in the area of electric power systems. The installation has the form of a flexibly configured reduced-scale power system equipped with state-of-the-art apparatus, power generating / converting units and a distributed control system based on Ethernet communication.

Activities of the Laboratory include research and development projects carried out with participation and for the industry, demonstration and training actions and other forms of R&D undertakings aimed at the implementation and commercialization of the results.
